We need your help!
Fellow Rotarians,
You have expressed an interest in Rotary's water programs - and now we need your help!
WASRAG (Water & Sanitation Rotarian Action Group) was launched on March 22nd, 2007. It was authorized by Rotary International in response to Rotarians' desire to have a more significant impact on the life and livelihood of people through the provision of safe water and sanitation.
Much has been achieved since then. The WASRAG site www.wasrag.org:
- Helps Rotary clubs find partners and matching grants for projects.
- Evaluates technologies to assist Rotarians in choosing the most appropriate solution to a water/sanitation problem.
- Identifies experts who can advise on project planning and implementation.
- Assists Rotary clubs to source funding for projects to complement The Rotary Foundation.
- Includes Best Practice guidelines to ensure sustainability in everything we do.
And, a major achievement this year was Rotary's first ever Water Summit Conference in Los Angeles. Outstanding speakers and a thought provoking, challenging program won outstanding reviews from the Rotarians who attended.
The foundation for WASRAG's mandate is now in place - but we need assistance in many areas to:
- Broaden the quest for program funding from corporations and foundations to ensure continuity in programs.
- Expand the panel of experts to provide guidance on technologies and on negotiating with suppliers of goods and services.
- Improve our metrics to measure and report on the outcomes within communities.
BUT MOST OF ALL - we need your experience, the lessons you have learned on projects and your opinion on crucial water and sanitation issues. And more - if you have expertise on any aspect of water/sanitation in the developing world we'd like to include you in our panel of experts.
Rotary International authorized WASRAG. RI Presidents actively encourage all clubs to commit to water, sanitation and health projects. But, RI provides no financial support to WASRAG. Our only sustainable source of financing is from membership fees.
So, we appeal to you to become a member of WASRAG. Join your fellow Rotarians who are committed to improving life and livelihood through the provision of safe water and sanitation.
Join us as a Charter (life) member today! Go to www.wasrag.org, click on \"Sign Up\" and follow the steps. Charter membership is $100 US; Annual members pay only $25. And, you can pay by credit card or by check.
We look forward to welcoming you to the team,
Cordially,
PDG Ron Denham
